Title:
Pinecone Fish, (Monocentrus Japonicus)
This fish is found in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. It habitates tropical, subtropical, and temperate waters in caves and under ledges; occasionally coral-reef habitats or muddy bottoms. It has been seen at depths down to 1/2 mile.

The body of the pinecone fish is covered with a hard casing containing spines. As a result, it is also called the pineapple fish and the knight-fish. The pinecone fish glows in the dark from patches on side of its jaw due to the presence of luminescent bacteria found there in gelatinous patches. It eats crustaceans and small fish. The male and female can reach a size of 20.51cm.
