This adult newt can reach a length of 2.5 to 5.5 inches (6.4 to 14 cm). This newt feeds on insects, worms, crustaceans, mollusks, other small invertebrates, and tadpoles. Thier skin secrets a toxin that keeps other fish from eating them.
Their toxic skin secretions cause many fish to avoid eating them.
