Title:
Bristlecone Pines State Park
In an obscure mountain California reside the world's oldest living inhabitants. The Bristlecone Pine is a remarakable gnarled and twisted tree that lives in the White Mountains along east central California at the 10,000-11,000 foot level. This part of the White Mountains is situatied in such a way that these trees are exposed to bitter cold and dry winds. This exposure to the winds creats a panalopy of twisted trunks and limbs that are mostly dead. When I walk amidst this sparse forest, a sense of awe envelopes my entire being. To think that some of these trees are over 3000 years old, their quiet wisdom and graceful majesty they have gained from eons of life give me pause and reverence in ways very few things have.
